How old do you have to be to skydive?
You must be 18 years of age to skydive in the United States. The oldest person we have had skydive with us is 91, but there is no upper age limit.
What happens if the parachute doesn't open?
In the very unlikely event that the main parachute doesn't open properly, there is a reserve parachute in the top of the container, which has been inspected and packed by a FAA certified parachute rigger. All of our reserve parachutes are equipped with the most reliable and modern AAD's (Automatic Activation Device) available. Georgia Skydiving Center utilizes this system for your enhanced safety. This is a backup system only.
What kind of parachute will we use?
The parachutes used are specially designed, large "ram-airs". A "ram-air" is a high-technology square parachute, as opposed to the old-style round parachutes.
What is the landing like?
In the early days of sport parachuting, landings were sometimes quite hard. The new "ram-air" parachutes of today allow landings that feel equivalent to hopping off a step 1-2'

What will the skydive feel like?
The sensation of freefall is more like flying than falling. The freefall portion of your skydive is exhilarating, and the parachute ride is very quiet and beautiful. Many describe their skydive as the greatest thing that has ever happened to them.
Is there a weight limit?
Yes at Georgia Skydiving Center our weight limit is 285lbs which is one of the heaviest weight offered nationwide.
What Should I wear?
Wear casual clothes suitable for outdoor activity at the temperatures forecast for the day. For the warm months, shorts or jeans, lightweight shirt, and tennis shoes are fine.
In the winter we jump in temperatures as low as the mid 30's on the ground. The airplanes are heated, so a sweatshirt or long sleeve warm shirt, jeans, lightweight gloves,
and tennis shoes are usually sufficient. On all your student training jumps
Georgia Skydiving Center will provide a jumpsuit, goggles, headgear, and altimeter.
Will I be scared?
Maybe, and maybe not. You will definitely feel a surge of excitement and anticipation before the jump...this is a normal part of the experience. During the jump itself, you'll probably feel a thrill that you've never experienced before - enjoy it!
